I often come across blog names or social handles and say, wow how clever is this name. I also often come across names that just click and I say okay I get it, she has a some named Nick, she’s a mom, she’s NicksMomBlog (totally made this up so if you’re NicksMomBlog, hi there.)
I feel like people might not think there’s actually a reason behind why I named my blog the name that I did. I think people nowadays are so use to famous musicians or artists such as Lil Kim, Lil Wayne, Lil Pump and the list goes on. So you might think, oh lil mom; little mom. Negative!
Yes, I am only 5’1″ and need to climb on counter tops or grad step stools just to get a snack or Tupperware container off of the top shelves. Yes my 3.5 year old daughters legs when I carry her aren’t too far off of the ground and yes I use to live in heels just to feel a little bigger. Oh and yes, a lot of chairs I sit straight up in my feet won’t touch all the way down to the floor. BUT no; that is not what I named my blog after.
What I did name it after which not even probably Tony or my mother even know is a name my younger cousin always calls me, “little one”. Yes, it’s referring to my height but when coming up with a name for my blog I actually never considered that. I first called myself “momdotcom” which I thought was so clever but actually I wasn’t the only one who had it. I didn’t feel like I needed to change because of that but it didn’t feel like it quite fit, if you will.
Anywho, my cousin went into the military after high school. He’s about 6 years younger than me and as we get older I feel we find more to talk about and more in common. I genuinely enjoy his presence and our talks, no matter the topic of them. I never noticed that when he seen me he called me “little one”, he’s about 6 feet tall maybe even taller, heck he’s tall ok. So even though I was the big cousin, I was was the little one. Then I noticed myself saying it to myself and thinking about how long he could have been calling me that, how did I not notice.
Then shortly after, my little brother who again towers over me, called me little. “You’re so little!” Again, little. I always called myself short, never little. So then it hit me, I’m little and I’m a mom. Sounds silly, but to me it was just kind of a little series of moments that lead me to the name that I’ll forever use when writing or posting or whatever else. ThisLittleMom is me, I am ThisLittleMom… and I dig it! 🙂
That’s sweet! High five from the 5ft1 club 🖐🏼

Aw thanks 😉 It’s a pretty great club to be in, I’m honored! 💕
I’m 5’4” and my baby brother is six years younger but well over 6′
When I was 21 and he was 15, everyone who saw us together thought I was the little sister.
I like my height. I’m not tall but not really short. I can reach things that are on the edge of the top shelf (I do need help is something is pushed way back). My sister and I are exactly .5” apart. One of us is 5’5” and the other is 5’4.5” (I keep forgetting which of us is “taller” lol)
When I read this post, it had me trying to think of an interesting reason I picked my name (it’s my Etsy shop name- I consider “new age” to be my religion and I study dream interpretation)
That’s a much more interesting story than I have lol
